YarnCon is Chicago's own yarn-centric exhibition -- a place to promote, sell, and celebrate the yarny arts.

October 17, 2009
10am-4pm

At the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse

Admission: $3

Destash and Restash at this year's YarnCon! Bring yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks to donate to Cast Onto Your Dreams, a program that aims to foster confidence and personal empowerment in Chicago teens and tweens by teaching them to knit and crochet. This new program is being spearheaded by Gary Scholar, local author of children's book Angora -- I'm Knot Just Fluff, I'm Always Enough, about a bunny who gains self-esteem by learning to knit. Scholar is teaming up with acclaimed author (and knitter!) Debbie Macomber, and the pair hope to eventually take the program nationwide.
