Sunday, April 3: 11 am – 12:50 pm (2 hours)
Cost: $60 + $25 kit fee (to be paid to teacher during class)
In this class participants will learn corespinning using a variety of core materials: cotton, mohair, elastic thread, and wire. The only limit to the size of yarn or amount of texture will be the orifice size on your wheel. If you want to spin super-duper bulky yarns for arm knitting or large needles or hooks (US 17 – 50 or hooks sized M or larger) then this will be determined by your wheel’s limits. Corespinning over wire, crochet cottons, and elastic threads doesn’t have to be bulky. We will focus both on the size, texture, and weights of yarn you’d like to create. We will also cover yarn stability, balance, and how to create the yarn you want to use with your knitting, crochet, or weaving projects.
Kit purchased in class (required) includes a textured art batt, wire, elastic thread, roving, locks for tail spinning, cotton core spinning material, silk cocoons, and more spinning add-ins.
Participants should be comfortable with spinning on their wheel. You do not need advanced spinning skill, just a willingness to try something new, the ability to spin a singles yarn and basic knowledge of plying.
